One of Kiko’s most notable collections came in spring/summer 2020. Named Tulcea 189/965, and seeking direct inspiration from the Kentucky Derby and its associated fanfare, the result was a bold and boisterous body of work that once again combines form and function. The “Riding Claw” series was a parka and trouser set that focused on geometry and motion with a special focus on function. Cut from Loro Piana’s (very expensive) Storm System Lightframe, this Parka features a just-past-the-hip fit, with an exaggerated zip-up neck, articulated hand-pockets, and rear zipper expandable pleats all with a function-first focus. Lined for comfort and to facilitate two internal hidden pockets.
