Amidst rumours that Kiko Kostadinov would be ending his relationship with Asics in 2020, an announcement was made introducing Asics sportstyle, a subline of Asics that although were not official collaborations, would be headed and designed by Kiko and his design team. The first of the sneakers in this ongoing collection was a revival of the Gel Kayano 14, combining both functional prowess with technical appeal in a range of signature colours. This colourway from the very first release features red/salmo/burgundy panelling that contrasts with a purple-blue. I have a personal pair of these in the mint green colourway, and can safely say they are some of the comfiest shoes I have ever owned.
