Martine Rose's incredibly exaggerated and camp design language often prohibits many a civilian from wearing her mainline designs. Bulbous, garish, and an absolute departure from traditional "flattering" silhouettes, it's the flawless execution of these ideas that has garnered her a dedicated cult like following. Lucky for us who are both less adventurous and possibly more strapped for cash, Martine has is a serial collaborator with Italian sportswear and technical garment producer Napapijri, who has been a staple of many a European subculture since it's founding in the 1980s. Beginning in FW17, Rose has taken over outlandish designs to pared back silhouettes within the Napapijri ecosystem to form Napa by Martine Rose. One of their recurring silhouettes is iterations of the Epoch Parka. Super oversized, and functionally drawing from ski jackets of yesteryear, the oversized silhouettes are cut in a flattering manner that almost cocoons the body. This is an earlier iteration of the Epoch, cut from a heavy duty polyester canvas with ripstop polyester lining. 3-D cargo pockets, stash hand pockets, heavy hood straps on the removable hood, alongside multiple bungee cords and velcro adjusters to change the fit come together for an incredibly versatile yet affordable winter option. Think of it as an affordable alternative to the iconic Balenciaga Swing Parka.
